BMW Unleashes 1,000+ HP Drift Experiance Within Historic Munich factory
MUNICH, GERMANY – BMW is offering adrenaline-fueled drift training sessions inside its soon-to-be-electrified Munich factory, utilizing a specially-prepared model boasting over 1,000 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque delivered exclusively to the rear wheels. The program, a collaboration between BMW M and Red Bull Driftbrothers, provides a unique prospect to learn controlled sliding techniques as the iconic facility prepares for a complete transition to electric vehicle production by the end of 2027.
This initiative isn’t simply about high-octane thrills; it’s a strategic blend of performance marketing, driver education, and a symbolic farewell to the internal combustion engine era at BMW’s historic Munich plant. The program allows enthusiasts to experience the pinnacle of rear-wheel-drive performance while simultaneously acknowledging the company’s commitment to a fully electric future. Participants can choose between a half-day module (€490) or a more immersive experience (€1,490) that includes “taxi drift” rides with professional driver Elias Hountondji.
The modified vehicles used in the BMW M Academy drift training are closely based on production models but feature specific adjustments designed to enhance drift control and learning. The program is available year-round and represents a final showcase of raw, thermal performance within the walls of a factory poised to become BMW’s first all-electric vehicle assembly site.
