Hyuna Sparks Concern with Public Diet and Weight Loss Journey
SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA – Singer Hyuna is drawing attention and concern after openly documenting her weight loss efforts on social media, including a stated goal to achieve a “bone dry” physique. The artist recently shared images of herself on Instagram, revealing her weight and expressing self-directed criticism, prompting commentary from fellow entertainer Crayon Pop’s Way.
Way expressed sadness over Hyuna’s self-blaming posts, specifically referencing a caption where she told herself, “You’re so skinny. You can do this.” He further noted Hyuna’s statement, “Hyunya, you ate too much,” as indicative of a perhaps harmful “compensation mentality” that can lead to yo-yo dieting and metabolic damage. “The older you get, the more you starve and you don’t lose weight,” Way cautioned, explaining that restrictive dieting can disrupt metabolism.
Hyuna first revealed her intention to diet last month, posting a photo from past activities with the caption,”Hyunya, you ate a lot. Come to your senses and go on a diet. You liked ‘bone dry’. Let’s try again.” On November 4th, she shared a photo of a scale displaying 49kg, writing, “It’s really hard to change positions after 50kg. There’s still a long way to go. How much have you eaten so far, Kim Hyun-ah?”
Way shared his own experience, stating he has “graduated from starvation dieting” and now focuses on a sustainable approach. He emphasized the benefits of balanced eating, including improved physical strength, mental health, and overall well-being,describing it as a “virtuous cycle.”
