Bodycam Footage Reveals Former NFL Quarterback ⁢jay⁢ Cutler‘s Attempt to Avoid DUI Arrest

WILLIAMSON COUNTY,TN – ‌ Bodycam‌ footage released following‍ his october 17,2024,arrest shows former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler⁣ attempting⁣ to leave the‌ scene ‌of a two-vehicle crash ⁢before being detained on⁣ suspicion of ‌driving under ‌the influence.

Cutler, who played for the Denver ⁣Broncos, Chicago Bears, adn Miami dolphins over ‍a 12-year career, was initially⁣ involved in a minor collision with another driver. According to police reports, officers arrived to find both⁣ drivers⁣ discussing the incident⁢ and appearing to prepare to⁢ handle it⁣ privately.However,‌ an officer’s observation of Cutler’s demeanor prompted further questioning.

“Hey,⁢ sir, can I ask ⁢you a question?​ How much alcohol have you had today?” the ​officer asked Cutler, as captured on bodycam footage.

Cutler initially responded, “Uh, none.”

The officer, identifying himself as​ an advanced roadside impairment detection enforcement officer, pressed further: “Don’t‌ lie to me. How much alcohol have⁤ you had‍ today?”

Cutler then admitted to “Umm, a little bit.”

When asked to⁤ perform field sobriety tests, Cutler refused. He​ was subsequently handcuffed and placed ‍in ⁤the back ‌of a patrol car.

Cutler‌ was charged with driving under the ‌influence, possessing a gun while intoxicated, failure to ⁤exercise due care, and implied consent. An ⁤arrest affidavit revealed Cutler allegedly offered⁢ the⁢ other driver $2,000 not to contact the police and allow him⁢ to drive away. A loaded Glock​ pistol was also found in the center console of his⁢ truck.

In ‌August, Cutler reached a ⁤plea ⁣deal, pleading guilty to DUI in exchange for the ⁤dismissal of the⁤ other charges. He was ordered by a Williamson County ‌judge ⁤to pay a $350 fine and‌ serve four days ‌in the Williamson County Jail, which he completed by​ the end‌ of september.

Cutler is also serving one year‍ of unsupervised probation, is required to⁣ attend a DUI safety class, and had his Tennessee driver’s license revoked.

The other driver ‍involved in‍ the ⁢crash has filed a lawsuit against Cutler, seeking $25,000 in compensatory damages for injuries sustained⁢ in the incident.

Cutler was a first-round ‌NFL‌ draft pick (11th overall) in 2006, selected by the Denver Broncos after playing college football at Vanderbilt University.
