Title: Houston K-9 Unconscious After Attack by Homeless Man

Houston A 50-year-old man is in​ jail after allegedly‌ choking a⁢ Houston police department K-9 to ⁣the point of unconsciousness while ⁤refusing to comply with officers attempting ⁣to remove him from an occupied apartment. The incident underscores the dangers faced by law ‌enforcement K-9s and highlights⁣ a pattern of violence against them in‌ the Houston area.

Talmadge Blount was discovered inside the apartment after police responded to a call.⁢ When officers instructed Blount to leave, he⁣ refused,‍ leading to the deployment of ⁣a K-9 unit. According to court records,Blount ‌then choked the K-9,rendering‌ it⁣ unconscious.⁢ Officers used a⁤ taser to subdue Blount and stop the attack. The K-9 is expected to fully recover.

Blount has been ⁣charged‌ with interference with a ⁤police service animal and is ⁢being held on a $40,000 bond. He has a history of prior convictions, including assault of a public servant, terroristic threat against ⁣a ‍public servant, and attempted assault of a peace officer.

This incident​ follows a similar case earlier this year where a K-9 named Rocky was shot in the face by a ​suspect evading‌ U.S.Marshals. Rocky also recovered from his injuries.
