Google Launches ‘search Live’ in the US, Enabling Visual Search with AI
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – Google has officially rolled out “Search Live,” a new feature allowing users in the United States to search using their smartphone camera and voice, providing real-time answers powered by artificial intelligence. The launch follows a limited trial period in July with users registered for AI-powered Labs test functions.
The new search format, first unveiled at Google I/O,enables an interactive voice conversation in AI mode alongside live camera input.Users can ask questions about objects or scenes captured by their device’s camera, and Google Search will respond with information and relevant website links.
To access Search Live, users simply tap the “Live” icon located beneath the search bar within the Google app on Android and iOS devices. Google clarifies that existing Google Lens users will find the functionality integrated as a new “look live” option.
Google suggests potential use cases include identifying landmarks while traveling, learning new skills, finding recipes, or troubleshooting device issues – all by pointing the camera and asking questions aloud.
