A developing area of low pressure in teh Caribbean Sea, designated Invest 94L, poses a potential threat to florida waters by the weekend and is prompting heightened awareness among beachgoers and boaters. While not yet a tropical storm, the system is forecast to bring increasing hazardous conditions, including elevated wave heights, nonetheless of whether it fully develops.
The National Hurricane Center is closely monitoring invest 94L as it moves westward. Even without strengthening into a tropical cyclone, the disturbance is expected to generate hazardous rip currents and rough seas along Florida’s coastline. Residents and visitors should prepare for these conditions and heed any warnings issued by local authorities.
Elsewhere in the Atlantic, Hurricane Gabrielle is rapidly moving across the north Atlantic and is anticipated to bring strong winds to the Azores and portions of Portugal as it transitions into an extratropical system later this week.
