FCG Futsal department head Okan Bulut acknowledged a shaky start, stating, “We didn’t start well and you could tell that our young team was nervous. So after 15 minutes we were 3-0 down.” Mühlheim’s experienced team initially dominated with a clever and physical game, capitalizing on early opportunities through goals from Totov (2nd minute) and Bentale (13th minute), followed by another from Titov (16th minute).
The tide began to turn before halftime, fueled by a series of penalties awarded to Gütersloh. A penalty converted by Umut Bulut (19th minute) narrowed the gap to 3-1, and further goals from Karasu (22nd minute) and Kocab (31st minute) leveled the score at 3-3.However, Mühlheim regained the lead with an own goal (34th minute) and another from Bentale (39th minute), pushing the score to 5-3.
despite facing adversity, FCG refused to concede. A goal from F. yilmaz (39th minute) brought them within one, and the team’s relentless pressure, culminating in a flying goalkeeper strategy, paid off in the final seconds. Captain Umut Bulut’s dramatic equalizer (40th minute) secured the 5-5 draw.
“The team was wholly different in the second half,” Bulut explained. “We had the game in hand, a lot of chances, but our strength weakened a bit. We switched to flying goalkeeper and threw everything forward again.”
The match, played before a crowd of approximately 100 spectators, also featured a halftime performance by the “switchlanez” dance group from the Danceair dance school.
