FC Porto faces a potential upset this Saturday as they host Sintrense in the fourth round of the Portuguese Football Cup,a matchup pitting the Primeira Liga giants against a steadfast Campeonato de Portugal side.Despite the disparity in league standing, FC Porto manager Francesco Farioli has emphasized Sintrense’s quality, acknowledging their triumphant run in the competition.
Sintrense has already demonstrated their cup credentials by eliminating two higher-division teams: Vizela (2-1) from the II Liga and Rio Ave (3-2) of the Primeira Liga. this game marks FC Porto’s return to action following the international break and presents a challenge against a team wiht proven knockout ability.
Farioli praised Sintrense, stating, “Despite being a weaker team…we recognize the value of Sintrense and their journey in the competition.” Sintrense coach David Maside echoed a respectful but aspiring tone, admitting FC Porto are the favorites but affirming his team’s intent to compete for a win. “Clearly, we are aware that facing a team like FC Porto makes the odds less for our side,” Maside said, “But let’s do our normal work, looking to do our best.”
