Diane Keaton, Iconic ‘annie Hall’ Star, Dies at 79
Hollywood is mourning the loss of Diane Keaton, the Academy Award-winning actress celebrated for her groundbreaking comedic timing, distinctive style, and unforgettable roles in films like ‘Annie Hall‘ and ‘The Godfather.’ she was 79.

Keaton made her film debut in 1970’s Lovers and other Strangers, but achieved wider recognition in 1972 as Kay Adams, the girlfriend of Michael Corleone (Al Pacino) in Francis Ford coppola’s The Godfather. She reprised the role in both The Godfather Part II (1974) and The Godfather Part III (1990).
Her collaboration with Woody Allen proved pivotal, culminating in the 1977 masterpiece Annie Hall, a role that became synonymous with her name and earned her an Academy Award for Best Actress. The film, many believe, drew inspiration from Keaton and Allen’s real-life relationship. When asked about this in 1977, Keaton told The New York Times: “It’s not true, but there are elements of truth in it.”
Throughout her career, Keaton continued to work with Allen on films including Manhattan, Sleeper, Manhattan Murder Mystery, and Play It Again, Sam. Later in her career, she starred alongside Goldie Hawn and Bette Midler in the 1996 hit The First Wives Club, a comedy about women navigating divorce and empowerment. More recently, she collaborated with Jane Fonda, Mary Steenburgen, and Candice Bergen on the Book Club films.
Keaton never married but adopted two children, a daughter, Dexter, in 1996, and a son, Duke, in 2000. She remained a public supporter of Woody Allen following allegations of abuse made by Mia Farrow.
