Apple has released a suite of updates for its devices, bringing expanded language support for Apple Intelligence, customization options for teh new Liquid Glass design, and enhanced child safety features. The updates are available now for compatible iPhones and Macs.
Apple Intelligence Gains Wider Reach
The AI features powered by Apple Intelligence are now accessible to users in eight additional languages: Danish, Dutch, Norwegian, Portuguese (Portugal), swedish, turkish, Customary Chinese, and Vietnamese.
Live Translation Expands Language Support
Live translation capabilities for AirPods have also been significantly broadened, now supporting japanese, Korean, Italian, Mandarin (both traditional and simplified spelling). This expansion dramatically increases the usability of the real-time translation feature for a global audience.
Liquid Glass Design Becomes Customizable
Responding to user feedback, Apple has introduced customization options for its Liquid Glass design, first introduced with iOS 26. Users can now adjust the openness of the interface to suit their preferences. Additionally, the automatic camera access from the lock screen (activated by swiping from the right edge) can now be disabled, addressing a common point of frustration for some users.
macOS Tahoe 26.1 Delivers Usability Improvements
macOS Tahoe 26.1 focuses on refining the user experience.A key addition is expanded AutoMix support for Apple Music via AirPlay. This feature, which intelligently blends songs together, now functions when streaming to external speakers and Apple TV. Improvements to FaceTime audio quality on weaker connections are also included, benefiting users in areas with unreliable internet access.
Child Safety Features Enabled by default
Apple is prioritizing child safety with expanded features now enabled by default for existing child accounts aged 13 to 17 (age varies by country or region). Thes include communication safety features and web content filters designed to restrict access to adult content. This change provides parents with increased control over their children’s online activities.
Availability and Installation
The updates are currently rolling out to all compatible devices.iPhone users can install iOS 26.1 by navigating to Settings > General > Software Update. Mac users can find the update in system Preferences under Software Update. Apple is distributing the updates gradually,so availability may vary. Installation is estimated to take between 15 and 30 minutes, depending on the device and internet connection speed.
