Antonio Brown Extradited to Miami to Face Shooting Charges
Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown has been extradited from Dubai to Miami to stand trial in connection with a shooting incident last April, according to Miami-Dade police. Brown is accused of aggravated battery with a firearm, and his arrival in Miami marks a notable development in the ongoing investigation.
The case stems from an incident on April 23, 2024, where a man was shot outside a Miami home. Police identified the victim as a delivery driver. A witness, identified as Ambu, reportedly identified Brown as the shooter and stated he had known Brown since 2022. Brown’s extradition signals the beginning of legal proceedings that coudl carry substantial penalties.
This is the latest in a series of legal troubles for the former NFL star. Brown has previously faced accusations of battery against a moving truck driver, multiple domestic violence charges, and failure to pay child support. His career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers abruptly ended in January 2022 when he left the field mid-game against the New york Jets, removing his jersey and other equipment.
Following that incident, then-Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady publicly expressed concern for Brown, stating, “It’s a arduous situation. Everybody should do what they can to help him in ways that he really needs it. We all love him. We care about him deeply. We want to see him be at his best. Unfortunately, it won’t be with our team.”
During his NFL career, Brown was a highly productive player, recording 928 receptions for 12,291 yards and 88 touchdowns. He played for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, winning a Super Bowl with Brady and the Buccaneers in 2021. He was a seven-time Pro Bowl selection.
