Anthony Hopkins to Reign as Emperor in New Ancient Drama “Those About to Die”
Unterföhring, Germany – September 23, 2025 – Hollywood icon Anthony Hopkins will star as Emperor Vespavian in “Those About to Die,” a ten-part event series premiering Friday, October 17th at 8:15 p.m. on ProSieben. The series, set in Rome in 79 AD, plunges viewers into a world of gladiatorial combat, chariot races, and political intrigue within the aging emperor’s court.
“Those about to Die” depicts a Rome rife with corruption as Vespavian’s sons,titus (Tom Hughes) and Domitian (Jojo Macari),vie for the throne,sparking a perilous power struggle. The series explores the ambitions of Rome’s citizens amidst a backdrop of brutal entertainment and treacherous family dynamics. All ten episodes will air on ProSieben on Fridays, in double features, beginning October 17th, and will also be available for free streaming on Joyn starting October 10th.
