Novi sad, Serbia – The brackets are finalized for the women’s freestyle competition at the 2025 U23 World championships, set to begin this week at SPENS in Novi Sad. The U.S. team features several athletes with senior-level World Championship experience, headlined by two-time senior World medalist and defending U23 World champion Kylie Welker.
Welker will face a challenging first-round opponent in Priya of India, a five-time age-group World medalist who placed fifth at the 2024 Senior world Championships. A victory would likely advance Welker to the quarterfinals against Japan’s Makoto Komada.
Joining Welker on the U.S. roster are Senior World team members Audrey Jimenez (50 kg), Cristelle Rodriguez (55 kg), and Adaugo Nwachukwu (62 kg). Rodriguez has a confirmed first-round matchup against Gultakin Shirinova of Azerbaijan, a two-time U20 World bronze medalist. Jimenez and Nwachukwu have received first-round byes.
Brooklyn Hays (68 kg) and Jasmine Robinson (72 kg) will also face opponents with U23 World bronze medals-viktoryia Radzkova of UWW and Iryna Zablotska of Ukraine,respectively.
Rounding out the U.S. entrants are Brianna Gonzalez (53 kg), Cecilia Williams (57 kg), Alexis janiak (59 kg), and Isabella Mir (65 kg).
Competition will unfold over three days, beginning October 22 with the 50-72-76 kg weight classes.October 23 will feature the 55-57-65-68 kg groups, and October 24 will showcase the 53-59-62 kg categories. Each bracket will be completed over two days, with semifinals on day one and repechage and medal matches on day two.
