ThinkPad adn the China Open: A Synergy of Performance and AI Innovation
Lenovo’s ThinkPad brand leveraged its partnership with the 2025 China Open tennis tournament to showcase its commitment to integrating AI technology into event services and enhancing the fan experience. The collaboration aimed to demonstrate how technology and sports can converge, particularly appealing to the high-achieving, performance-focused demographic attracted to the event.
ThinkPad’s involvement extended beyond simple sponsorship. The brand utilized AI to optimize event operations and improve the viewing experience for attendees. This was highlighted during the Lenovo AI Media Open Day – ThinkPad China Network special event, where Lenovo Group Vice President Wang Zhong,ThinkPad Business Department General manager Zhang Hao,and ThinkPad Chief Marketing Officer Zhou Baoxuan engaged with media representatives to discuss the brand’s spirit and product vision.
Wang Zhong emphasized ThinkPad’s 33-year dedication to “craftsmanship quality, technological innovation, and excellent experience,” and its request to supporting the China Open and the growth of Chinese tennis.
The event served as the launchpad for ThinkPad’s new AI PCs, including the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Aura AI Yuanqi version and the ThinkPad X9 Aura AI yuanqi version. These devices are equipped with “Tianxi,” a personal super intelligent body offering five core AI functions: AI control, AI notes, AI search, AI translation, and AI services. Wang Zhong positioned Tianxi as a step towards evolving AI terminals into “personal intelligent twins” (AI Twins), envisioning it as a key interface for human-computer interaction in the AI era.
Beyond these core functions, ThinkPad AI PCs offer four additional features – a knowledge base, model square, AI Space, and Linglongtai – providing access to 24 large language models (including DeepSeek, Doubao, and Hunyuan) and over 200 AI applications focused on productivity tasks like office work, writing, and video editing.
A limited-edition ThinkPad X9 aura, restricted to 1,000 units globally with 99 customized for China Net, was also unveiled. A further customized version was presented to the official organizing committee of the China Open.
ThinkPad’s presence at the China Open extended to a dedicated pop-up store, designed as an “AI check-in point” for fans. The store hosted a “winning championship free order” promotion to support Chinese tennis players and distributed ThinkPad China Open Limited Gold Notes as prizes, awarded in part by Australian tennis player Deminal, who also provided on-site coaching and interactive experiences for fans.
Looking ahead, ThinkPad plans to continue its collaboration with China Net, introducing further AI advancements and developing an ”intelligent event operation system” to elevate the tournament to a higher level of Grand Slam competition.
