A Hispanic mother reported four minors to the police for allegedly harassing and assaulting her 12-year-old son inside a school campus.
Yahaira Estrada assured that on several occasions the youths beat their son in the corridors of the Global Leaders school located on the Lower East Side, in Manhattan.
In addition, he pointed out, they touched him.
“They beat him, they put him in the bookstore, they lifted him by the neck until he couldn’t even breathe,” he narrated.
“Every time he used the bathroom, he told him that he was going to be raped. They tried to grab the parts of him, on occasions they were grabbed, ”he added.
Estrada pointed out that the bullying towards his son lasted for several months.
“It’s not just a case of hate, but a case of sexual harassment, they submitted it for months, that’s what hurts me,” he said.
After being questioned, the New York City school department assured that it had already taken action in this regard.
They indicated that among the measures they took was moving the accused students to another class, in addition to checking the student daily to prevent him from being a victim of new attacks.
In addition, they carry out daily patrols in the corridors.
