The series highlights in July: time travel with superpowers

When the fantasy series “The Umbrella Academy” started in February 2019, Netflix had a veritable hit with the public: right at the start weekend, the story about the Hargreeves siblings even overtook top series like “Stranger Things”. In the end, she was one of the ten most successful Netflix series in 2019. No wonder that a second season was ordered two months later – which is now in the starting blocks: From July 31, the new episodes can be seen. In addition, the second season of the German series hit “How To Sell Drugs Online (Fast)” starts at Netflix.

But the competition also has strong offers in July: Amazon shows the second season of the mystery series “Hanna”, Sky has a new edition dedicated to the detective “Perry Mason” and Magenta TV leads the story of the mafia hunter Saverio Barone (Francesco Montanari ) in “Il Cacciatore – The Hunter”.

With “Hamilton” Disney + presents a real sensation: From July 3rd the hip hop musical, which premiered on New York’s Broadway in 2015, will be available on the streaming service. It deals with the life of Alexander Hamilton (Lin-Manuel Miranda, left, with Okieriete Onaodowan), who was one of the US founding fathers alongside Thomas Jefferson and John Adams.

Stateless, Season 1, July 8, Netflix

Cornelia Rau, a permanent resident of Australia, was illegally detained in 2004. Netflix was inspired by her story for the series “Stateless” (July 8): Sofie Werner (Yvonne Strahovski) is held in a refugee camp in Australia. There she experiences incredible things. Oscar winner Cate Blanchett is also on board.

Greyhound, 10. Juli, Apple TV+

With “Greyhound” Apple TV + landed its most expensive project to date: The rights to the spectacle cost a whopping $ 70 million. From July 10, the streaming service shows the war drama in which Tom Hanks as submarine captain Ernest Krause hunts German submarines in the Second World War. The story is based on Cecil Scott Forester’s novel “The Good Shepherd” (1955).

Based on the novels by Erle Stanley Gardner, a series about the defense lawyer Perry Mason was created between 1957 and 1966. Sky Atlantic HD is now showing the new edition of “Perry Mason” from July 31: The story of the traumatized private investigator (Matthew Rhys) starts in 1932 in a shattered Los Angeles after the economic crisis.
