pilsen International Film festival Launches with Czech premieres, New Series from Jan Hřebejk
PILSNEN, CZECH REPUBLIC - The Pilsen International Film Festival commenced today, showcasing a diverse program of cinematic works and introducing the new TV series fall of the Koller House directed by Jan Hřebejk. the festival, which continues to draw increasing attendance, demonstrates resilience in the face of growing streaming platform viewership, according to festival director Eva Veruňková košařová.
Fall of the koller House, based on a screenplay by Natalie kocábová drawn from personal experiance, centers on Vendy, a new mother played by Tereza Volánková, navigating multi-generational living with her father and grandmother (božidara turzonovová). kocábová described the series as exploring “when four generations of one family suddenly find themselves in one house,” calling the topic ”an unexplored topic” and conceiving it “as a comedy…to look at it.” David matásek plays the father.
The festival will also feature a presentation of the Section of Women and the Film by director Dariu Kashcheeva and Beatrice Brentner, Oscar-nominated for Nosferat, who will personally introduce the film on September 28th. expanded screening locations this year include the Hall of the Science Library (capacity over 100) and the Pilsen House of music,supplementing the conventional Měšťanská beseda venue.
despite the availability of films on platforms like Netflix, Veruňková Košařová noted, “People tell us that some movies at home on television, that they need a big screen and a shared experience, and then have fun with their friends. Visitors more and more.”
