IKEA expands its smart home⁣ lineup with ‍a new range of devices supporting the‍ Matter interoperability⁢ standard, priced from £3 to⁣ £25. The collection ‍includes a smart socket, five new sensors-motion, door/window, water leak, temperature/humidity, and air quality-and builds on ‌IKEA’s⁤ commitment to⁢ accessible smart home technology.

The launch underscores IKEA’s role as a key proponent of matter, ⁤a unifying connectivity standard poised to resolve fragmentation in the smart home market. This move promises consumers greater ‍flexibility and choice, allowing devices from different manufacturers to ⁤seamlessly communicate. ⁣The new devices are rolling out to‌ IKEA stores this month,beginning in the UK,and represent a meaningful step toward‍ broader adoption of smart home technology by lowering cost barriers.

The new range features the Grillplats smart‍ socket for remote control and energy monitoring.‌ Sensor additions include ‌the Myggspray motion sensor, Myggbett door and ⁤window ‌sensor, Klippbok water leak​ detector, Timmerflotte​ temperature and humidity sensor (with ​LED display), and the ​Alpstuga air quality sensor, which measures CO, PM2.5 particles, temperature, ⁤and humidity.

IKEA’s strategy centers on affordability, with prices ‍ranging from £3 ‌to​ £25 ⁤in ​the​ UK, where‍ the devices are ‍already available for‍ purchase. This⁢ pricing structure aims ‌to⁤ make smart home solutions‍ available to a wider audience, furthering the democratization of the⁤ technology.
