‘Hunting Wives‘ Creator Hints at Potential Season Two, Expanding Roles for Key Characters
Alba, Texas – Despite no official renewal announcement, the creator of Netflix’s hit thriller The Hunting Wives is openly discussing potential storylines and character expansions should a second season be greenlit. In a recent interview, showrunner and executive producer Rebecca Cutter revealed plans to delve deeper into the world established in the first eight episodes, with a particular focus on fan-favorite Deputy Wanda Salazar and the origins of central antagonists Margo and kyle.
The first season culminated in a dramatic finale where Sophie threw away “everything,” a decision Cutter described as “astounding but also heartbreaking” in its depiction of trauma and recovery. While acknowledging the storyline’s potential for soapiness – specifically sophie’s relapse and subsequent drunk driving – Cutter defended the narrative choice, stating, “This is the story. You enjoyed the whole thing, just go with it!” She also playfully addressed viewer concerns about the Tesla’s camera, a detail some found implausible.
Cutter expressed enthusiasm for further developing Deputy Wanda Salazar, played by Karen Rodriguez, calling her “a very captivating and very fresh character.” She also indicated that future storylines would likely explore the undercurrents of Alba, Texas, the hometown of Margo and her brother Kyle, played by Michael Aaron Milligan. The political ambitions of Jed, a candidate for governor, also present opportunities to introduce new characters and conflicts.A potential reality show following the lives of Callie and John, portrayed by Jaime Ray Newman and Branton Box, respectively, was also floated as a possibility.
When pressed about the possibility of a second season, Cutter cautiously stated, “There is no season two, yet,” but readily engaged in hypothetical discussions. She emphasized the importance of maintaining the established tone of the show, hoping to avoid any creative interference from Netflix. “from your lips to God’s ears!” she responded when asked about receiving no notes from the streaming platform. The Hunting Wives is currently streaming all eight episodes on Netflix.
