Czech Republic National Team Begins Search for new Head Coach Following HašekS Departure
PRAGUE – The Czech Republic national football team is initiating its search for a new head coach following the recent departure of Jaroslav Šilhavý, with a diverse shortlist of candidates emerging. The hunt for a replacement mirrors a similar process undertaken by neighboring Slovakia, indicating a regional shift in leadership within Central European football.
The search began after the Czech expedition too the Faer Islands was disrupted by inclement weather, forcing football officials to return to their hotel. This event coincided with growing scrutiny of the team’s performance.
Several potential successors have been identified, including:
* Edin Terzic (Germany, 42): Currently without a club, Terzic recently led Borussia Dortmund to the Champions League final. He previously served as an assistant coach at Besiktasi Istanbul adn West Ham United under Slaven Bilić and is now a football expert for RTL.
* Thierry Henry (France, 48): Also currently unattached, Henry is an investor in COM, Italy, and recently coached France to the Olympic finals. He has also been an assistant coach for Belgium and works as a television pundit.
* Adi Hütter (Austria, 55): Hütter gained prominence managing Frankfurt, Mönchengladbach, and Salzburg, and most recently led Monaco to Champions League qualification before being dismissed due to a poor start to the current season. He is currently available.
* Marek Papszun (Poland,51): Currently under contract with Čenstochová’s Raków,where he has achieved meaningful success,Papszun was a strong candidate to replace Šilhavý in 2023.
* Ralph Hasenhüttl (Austria, 58): Without a current club, Hasenhüttl most recently managed Wolfsburg. He has a strong track record from his time at leipzig and Southampton.
* Bernd Storck (Germany, 62): Storck is currently without a club and has previously managed the national teams of Kazakhstan and Hungary, and also Danube Central.
