Jozef Kaban, the former chief designer of Škoda, has unveiled his frist automotive creation for chinese automaker Saic Roewe – the M7 DMH,a plug-in hybrid sedan positioned as an aggressively priced family vehicle. Launched on 2024/08/29, the M7 DMH boasts a range exceeding 1,000 kilometers (621 miles) and remarkably low fuel consumption figures, though it is unlikely to reach European markets at its current price point.
The Roewe M7 DMH, available in three trim levels, is currently offered in China for between 97,800 and 114,800 yuan (approximately 288,278 to 338,387 Czech Koruna as of 2024/09/03). While the vehicle offers features like heated seats and a steering wheel, 527-liter luggage capacity, 28 storage spaces, and a driver’s seat that folds flat for use as a bed, industry analysts suggest that even if the model were to be sold in Europe under the MG brand, it would likely carry a significantly higher price tag than 300,000 CZK. Kaban’s design, characterized by a boxy aesthetic and pop-up headlights, marks a departure from his previous work at Škoda and signals a new direction for the Saic Roewe brand.
