Election Reality Show “Republic Příbram” Brings Czech Politics to the People
Příbram, Czech Republic – A unique election reality show, “Republic Příbram,” has launched, placing Czech political leaders directly into the lives of ordinary citizens in the “most average” city in the country. The project, spearheaded by filmmakers Filip Remunda adn Vít Klusák, aims to expose the disconnect between political elites and the everyday concerns of the Czech populace.
Over the course of September,a film crew followed seven prominent political figures as they engaged with residents of Příbram in diverse settings – from senior homes and schools to local pubs and the remnants of a uranium mine. The initiative involved 150 participants and sought to create a direct confrontation between politicians and the realities faced by people outside the political sphere.
The series unfolded with scheduled appearances: Eva Decroix (ODS) on September 4th; Jaroslav Foldyna (SPD) on September 8th; Petr Macinka (Motorists party) on September 11th; Jana Maláčová (Socd/movement “Enough!”) on September 15th; Zdeněk Hřib (Pirates) on September 18th; Vít Rakušan (Stan) on September 22nd; and Karel Havlíček (ANO) on September 25th. The project culminated on September 29th with a final segment filmed in a local pub overlooking the former uranium mining area, bringing all participating politicians together for a concluding discussion.
