Amazon Prime Video Expands ‘The Chosen‘ Universe with New Animated Series for Kids
Los Angeles,CA – Amazon Prime Video is doubling down on its faith-based content with a series order for “The Chosen Adventures,” an animated adventure comedy spun off from the hugely popular series The Chosen. The declaration signals a continued investment in Christian programming by the streaming giant, and expands the reach of the Chosen franchise to a younger audience.
The series, co-produced by Amazon MGM Studios and 5&2 Studios (the production company behind The Chosen), will consist of 14 eleven-minute episodes. All episodes will be released together on Prime Video on October 17th, with availability in the U.S., U.K.,Latin America,Canada,Australia,New Zealand,and Sub-Saharan Africa.”The Chosen Adventures” centers around nine-year-old Abby and her friend Joshua as they navigate life in ancient Capernaum. Their world is turned upside down when they meet Jesus of Nazareth, who helps them see the world differently – and they, in turn, help spread his message. Adding a whimsical touch, Abby also has a talking sheep!
The voice cast boasts a blend of established chosen actors and new talent.Jonathan Roumie reprises his role as Jesus, alongside fellow Chosen stars Jordin Sparks, Elizabeth Tabish, Noah James, Joey Vahedi, George H.Xanthis, and Yasmine Al-Bustami. They are joined by Paul Walter Hauser as Sheep, Yvonne Orji as Pigeon, Romy Fay as Abby, and Jude Zarzaur as Joshua.
Ryan Swanson serves as writer, executive producer, and showrunner. The Chosen creator Dallas jenkins executive produces under the 5&2 Studios banner, alongside Chris Juen, chad gundersen, Keith Alcorn, Kellen Erskine, Derral Eves, Erin Elizabeth Gardner, and Myesha Gosselin.
Jenkins initially unveiled plans for “The Chosen Adventures” earlier this year, as part of a broader expansion of the Chosen universe, which includes plans for series focusing on Moses and Joseph.
