Residents near a farm in Signal Hill, Newfoundland and Labrador, canada, have observed a growing number of new Tesla vehicles parked on the property, prompting concerns about parking overflow and potential enforcement issues.
The farm, located off Thorburn Road, appears to be serving as a temporary storage location for Tesla vehicles awaiting delivery to customers. The limited parking capacity at the Signal Hill farm has led to vehicles being parked on nearby city streets, creating a nuisance for local residents.
Complaints have surfaced regarding inadequate public oversight of the situation. City officials have reportedly issued warning notices to vehicles parked for extended periods – exceeding the 72-hour limit – and the property owner, identified as a representative of Tesla’s regional logistics team, has occasionally authorized the towing of non-compliant vehicles.
This practice of utilizing unconventional parking locations for vehicle storage is not new for Tesla. Previously, the automotive manufacturer was documented storing hundreds of vehicles in the parking lot of the former Maplewood Mall in Moncton, New Brunswick. Similar instances have been reported in Michigan and Miami, Florida, suggesting a recurring strategy to manage vehicle inventory.
According to Totalcar, tesla’s use of these temporary storage locations is likely a response to fluctuating demand and logistical challenges in delivering vehicles directly to buyers. The Signal Hill farm’s proximity to St. John’s, the provincial capital, makes it a perhaps convenient staging area for vehicle distribution within newfoundland and Labrador.
