Terence Crawford Cop Traffic Stop: Omaha Police Under Investigation

Cop Holds ⁢Boxer Terence⁣ Crawford ‍at⁣ Gunpoint during Traffic Stop:⁣ Video

OMAHA, NE – A video circulating on social media shows Omaha police ⁢officers holding boxing ⁤champion ⁢terence Crawford at gunpoint during a traffic stop early Sunday morning. The Omaha Police ​Department has⁣ launched an ‍internal affairs inquiry into the incident.

According ‍to a statement released by the Omaha PD, officers observed a vehicle driving recklessly near North 12th ‌and Capitol Avenue shortly ‍before 1:30 a.m. A traffic stop was initiated ‌on Cass Street.​

During the stop, an officer reportedly‌ observed a firearm on the driver’s ⁤side floorboard. For safety‍ reasons, all occupants⁣ were ordered out of the ​vehicle⁣ at gunpoint. The driver was identified as Terence Crawford ⁤after verifying his driver’s license and was issued a citation for reckless driving. A passenger,identified as a ⁢member of Crawford’s security team,was also found ​to be ‌carrying a legally permitted firearm.

“Omaha Mayor​ John Ewing and Police Chief ⁣todd Schmaderer are​ aware of a⁢ video circulating on⁢ social media regarding a traffic ‌stop involving Terence‌ ‘Bud’ ‌Crawford early sunday morning,”‍ the ‌Omaha⁣ PD statement ​reads. “Chief Schmaderer has authorized​ an​ internal ⁢affairs investigation.”

Police confirmed that all occupants​ were legally permitted to carry firearms.A police supervisor and ​lieutenant responded to the scene ⁢at Crawford’s request.

the incident occurred just ⁣hours after Crawford ⁢was honored with a championship parade in Omaha following his ‍victory over Canelo Alvarez on ‌september 13 in‌ Las Vegas, a‍ fight that aired on Netflix. Crawford ‌defeated Alvarez to‌ become the⁤ undisputed super middleweight champion.

Crawford, 42-0 with 31 ⁤knockouts, is widely considered one of the top pound-for-pound boxers in the world. He declined to comment on the incident when contacted by TMZ.
