Tennessee Baseball Reveals Projected 2026 Starting Lineup
KNOXVILLE – Tennessee baseball’s anticipated starting lineup for the 2026 season is taking shape following fall practice, signaling a blend of returning talent and promising newcomers poised to contend for SEC and national championships. The Volunteers, coming off a series of successful seasons, are looking to maintain their position as a collegiate baseball powerhouse.
The projected lineup features a dynamic mix of power and speed, with several key players returning from the 2025 roster. While competition remains fierce throughout the preseason, current projections indicate Jay Abernathy leading off from center field, followed by Blaine Brown at designated hitter.Henry Ford is expected to anchor the hot corner at third base, with Levi Clark taking his position at first base. Blake Grimmer is slated to start in left field, while the catcher position remains a potential battle between Garrett Wright and Stone Lawless. Reese Chapman will likely patrol right field, with Manny Marin at second base and Ariel antigua anchoring the shortstop position.
Pitching Staff Outlook
On the mound, Brandon Arvidson is positioned to be Tennessee’s ace and is expected to take the Friday night starting role. Evan Blanco’s strong fall performance has earned him a spot in the weekend rotation, alongside Tegan Kuhns, who is anticipated to fulfill his potential as a key starter. The midweek rotation will likely feature Cameron Appenzeller and Landon Mack. While Mack was a standout at Rutgers last season, he may initially find himself in a versatile role, potentially contributing as a bullpen option alongside Arvidson or Kuhns as late-game arms. The bullpen boasts a diverse group of arms, led by right-handers Bo Rhudy, Brady Frederick, and Brayden Krenzel, alongside ethan Baiotto, Nic Abraham, and Sawyer deering. On the left side, Mark Hindy’s experience will be crucial, complemented by the rising talent of freshman Jackson Estes, along with Chandler Day and Taylor Tracey.
