MIAMI, FL – A 14-year-old boy has been charged in connection with a fatal collision on the Rickenbacker Causeway last week, authorities confirmed Friday. the crash, which occurred August 15th, resulted in the death of 53-year-old Fabian Moses, a Miami resident.The incident has sparked renewed debate surrounding the use of high-speed electric dirt bikes on public roadways.
According to a Miami police Department report, Vladyslav Kuchyn, of Sunny Isles Beach, was operating a 2025 Surron ultra Bee electric dirt bike westbound on the Causeway at approximately 8:30 p.m.The Surron Ultra bee is capable of reaching speeds of up to 59 mph, raising questions about its suitability for shared roadways.
Kuchyn collided with Moses, who was also traveling westbound on a bicycle, heading towards the Brickell neighborhood. Miami Fire rescue responded to the scene and transported Moses to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Kuchyn sustained head injuries, including a visible black eye, and surrendered to authorities in Miami-Dade county on Thursday. A minor passenger riding with Kuchyn was thankfully unharmed in the incident.
