As government agencies work to modernize transit through Saudi ports, especially the National Information Center, Okaz yesterday monitored the presence of some experimental card and fingerprint devices at the passport point across the King Fahd Bridge. in the private path for students.

And the director of the National Information Center, Dr. Essam Al-Waqeet, recently explained that there is an update for the crossing of Saudi ports, and singled out the King Fahd Bridge, noting that it will be a nice surprise for the bridge – attendees in the first quarter of next year and described it as an “element of suspense”.
Dr. Al-Waqeet’s speech took place during the session “Strengthening the technical sector to boost the digital economy” in Saudi Arabia, within the sessions of the Budget Forum 2023, to employ modern technologies to provide better quality of life to citizens, residents and visitors, the development of digital government services and the importance of technology to improve the quality of life.
Interestingly, the King Fahd Causeway connecting Saudi Arabia and Bahrain which opened on November 25, 1986 has achieved economic and social benefits between the two brother countries.
In January 2019, the General Corporation for the King Fahd Causeway announced that the number of passengers who crossed the bridge in 32 years totaled more than 382 million passengers, at a rate of 74,000 passengers per day. In the same year, the bridge recorded the highest number of crossings since its opening, as the number of passengers in 2019 across the King Fahd Causeway reached 2,918,993 passengers.
