Teacher Arrested: Alleged Groping at San Antonio High School

by David Harrison – Chief Editor

A former teacher at KIPP University Prep High school in San Antonio, Texas, has been arrested and fired after allegedly groping a 15-year-old female student in a classroom, according to San Antonio Police Department documents. Gabriela Castro, 24, was booked into the Bexar County Jail early Saturday morning and has since been released.

The incident underscores growing concerns about student safety within educational institutions and highlights the swift response protocols schools are implementing to address allegations of misconduct. Castro’s arrest and subsequent termination signal a zero-tolerance stance toward such behavior, while raising questions about vetting processes and ongoing oversight of school personnel.

Police say the student reported the touching to her mother, who then contacted authorities. Castro is accused of also repeatedly calling the student from blocked phone numbers. As a condition of her release, Castro is prohibited from entering the KIPP University Prep High School campus and from having any contact wiht individuals under the age of 17.

KIPP Aspire released a statement saying, “As soon as we were notified of alleged sexual misconduct between a teacher and a student at KIPP Aspire, we immediately conducted an internal investigation and alerted the student’s family and the San Antonio Police Department as well as other appropriate state agencies. After conducting our internal investigation, we terminated the teacher’s employment.”
