TCU moves into sixth place at The Ally after second round

TCU moves into sixth place at The Ally after second round

October 7, 2026 Alex Carter - Sports Editor News

TCU climbed into sixth place at The Ally on Tuesday at Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, Mississippi, fueled by a back-nine charge that produced 10 birdies and a round of two-over 290.

Old Waverly Golf Club Back-Nine Surge

The Horned Frogs erased a sluggish start by playing their final 10 holes three strokes under par. Thirteen of the team’s 14 birdies for the day arrived during that closing stretch. The surge began on the ninth green when Kirstin Angosta, Gracie McGovern, and Camille Min-Gaultier all closed with birdies. The apex arrived at the midpoint of the back nine as TCU rattled off seven consecutive birdies between holes 14 and 16, capped by all five players making birdie on the par-five 15th.

Only tournament leader Oklahoma State turned in a better second round than TCU among the 17 teams in the field. The 10th-ranked Cowgirls posted a six-under 282 to hold a five-stroke lead at five-under 571. TCU improved by four strokes from the opening round, bringing its 36-hole total to eight-over 584. The Horned Frogs sit three shots back of No. 7 Florida and Kentucky and four behind No. 22 Mississippi State.

Individual Standouts and Leaderboard Positions

Posting a one-under 71, Gracie McGovern recorded TCU’s best score of the day, alongside an even-par 72 from Kirstin Angosta. Both players are tied for 23rd at three-over 147. McGovern vaulted 27 spots up the leaderboard, marking the second-largest round-to-round leap of any golfer in the 90-competitor field. The junior signed for a two-under 34 on the back nine and played bogey-free over her last 10 holes. Dating back to March, Angosta has finished at par or better in 14 of her previous 20 rounds representing the Horned Frogs.

Freshman Ella Forss remains in position for her first career top-10 finish. Forss sits in a tie for seventh at one-under after signing for a two-over 74 in round two. She is one of only 10 players in the entire field sitting at even par or better. Louise Depadt of Oklahoma State holds the individual lead at six-under.

Camille Min-Gaultier tallied a team-leading four birdies during her round of 73, putting her in a tie for 32nd at four-over 148. Sofie Dimitrova rounded out the TCU scorecard with an 80, placing her in a tie for 63rd at 11-over 155.

Final Round Pairings in West Point

TCU will be paired with Florida and Kentucky for Wednesday’s final 18 holes. The Horned Frogs are scheduled to start on the front nine, teeing off in nine-minute intervals beginning at 8:30 a.m.
