National University Launches On-Base Education Center at Los Angeles AFB
National University officially launched its on-base education center at Los Angeles Air Force Base on Sept. 30, opening a dedicated office in building 270 to provide academic advising, curriculum development support, and a pathway to a future National Testing Center.
Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony Opens Building 270 Office Space
Base leadership, education personnel, and university representatives gathered for the ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the institution’s arrival on the installation. The newly established office is fully operational and offers regular office hours for military personnel, defense civilians, and family members seeking academic guidance and testing support.
Key military and civilian leaders participated in the event. Cathy J. Howard, director of the 61st Force Support Squadron Family Services; Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Michael Deiderich, command chief of Space Base Delta 3; Samantha S. Vaughn, executive director of Space Base Delta 3; and Anaika D. Fletcher, flight chief of the 61st Force Development, all took part in the ribbon cutting.
Advising and Testing Services for Service Members
To begin the event, Howard highlighted how crucial available college education is in backing military members, their relatives, and civil service workers. The collaboration seeks to simplify educational pathways for troops pursuing graduation, career growth, and abilities upgrades alongside active-duty and government jobs.
The arrival of National University’s personnel establishes a direct pipeline to academic resources on site. Counselors will offer in-person advice regarding graduation routes, military tuition aid, and transferring credits earned through armed forces instruction.
The installation also intends to establish a National Testing Center, which will enable military personnel and their families to take College-Level Examination Program exams, DANTES Subject Standardized Tests, and other professional certification exams directly on base.
