Meghan Markle Unmoved by Maternity Ward criticism, Prioritizes Authenticity

The documentary series Polo, which followed the sport of horse polo, has concluded its run with netflix. The streaming giant will not be extending its contract with the production company behind the series after September of this year, a decision attributed to declining viewership numbers. A source close to the situation stated to The Sun that “There is no hostility on both sides. Things have just reached their natural end.”

Despite this development, Netflix‘s relationship with the royal couple remains active. The second season of the show With Love, Meghan is slated for release in the autumn of 2025, with its format expected to remain consistent. In March, Ted Sarandos, the head of Netflix, confirmed the platform’s role, stating, “We are a passive partner in Meghan’s company, and it is indeed a new discovery model for us.”

News Corp Sells Foxtel to DAZN for $2.1 Billion

written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

DAZN Acquires ‍Foxtel in $2.1 Billion Deal, Reshaping Australian⁣ Streaming

In a major shakeup of⁣ the Australian media landscape, British sports ⁣streaming platform DAZN ⁢has acquired Foxtel, the struggling cable TV⁤ and streaming company jointly owned ⁤by News Corp ‍and Telstra, for‍ a ⁣reported A$3.4 billion ($2.1 billion), including debt. The deal marks a significant expansion for DAZN into a key market‌ and signals a potential shift in the global streaming wars.

The acquisition includes the repayment of A$578 ‍million in outstanding shareholder loans and refinancing of Foxtel’s existing debt upon closing. News Corp will retain a 6% stake in DAZN,while Telstra ‍will ⁤hold a‌ 3% share in ⁣the⁤ London-based streaming giant, backed by billionaire Len Blavatnik.

Foxtel’s declining profitability, attributed to the rise of cheaper streaming alternatives like Netflix, has been ⁣a persistent concern for its parent companies. The launch of‌ Foxtel’s own lower-cost streaming service proved insufficient⁣ to stem the⁢ tide of subscriber losses.

“Australians watch more sport than any other country in the world, which makes this deal ⁣an ‍incredibly‍ exciting opportunity for DAZN to enter a key market, marking‍ another step ⁤in our long-term strategy to become the global home of sport,” said a DAZN co-founder.

This acquisition has significant implications for the U.S. market, highlighting the ongoing global competition in the streaming industry. The ⁤success ⁤or failure of DAZN’s⁢ strategy in Australia could influence their ‍future expansion plans in north America and other key territories. The deal also underscores the challenges faced by conventional cable ‌providers ⁣in ‌the face of disruptive streaming ‌services.

Analysts predict ‌the ‌deal will trigger further consolidation within the⁣ global streaming sector, possibly‌ leading to more mergers and acquisitions as companies strive to gain a competitive edge in⁢ the increasingly crowded market. The long-term impact on consumers remains to be seen, but the ‌DAZN-Foxtel merger is undoubtedly⁢ a landmark event in the evolution of global entertainment.

News Corp Invests ⁤in DAZN, Telstra Receives Major Loan Repayment

In a significant move in the global media landscape, News Corp has announced a strategic investment in DAZN, the international sports streaming service. This investment positions⁢ News Corp for‌ a stake in the rapidly expanding digital entertainment market, mirroring the growth of platforms like ‍Apple TV.

The deal includes a board seat for News Corp, granting them‍ a voice in DAZN’s future‌ direction. DAZN, ‍founded in 2016, is aggressively pursuing‌ its ⁤goal of becoming a major global streaming player, competing⁣ with established giants in the industry. This partnership underscores News Corp’s commitment to digital⁤ expansion ‌and its confidence in DAZN’s potential for growth.

Simultaneously,⁤ Australian telecommunications giant Telstra has received a considerable cash injection. The company announced a repayment of shareholder loans ⁣totaling A$128 ‌million. This significant financial influx strengthens Telstra’s position and provides resources for future investments and expansion.

The market‍ reacted positively to ⁤both announcements. News Corp shares, listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX),⁤ saw a 1% increase, closing at A$49.65 in early trading. ‌ Telstra‍ shares also ⁤experienced a modest rise⁣ of 0.4%, outperforming the broader⁤ market index.

While the specifics of the News Corp-DAZN deal remain undisclosed, the investment highlights‌ the increasing convergence of traditional media companies and digital streaming platforms. This trend is expected‍ to continue as ‌media ⁣consumption habits shift‌ towards online platforms. The telstra loan repayment, meanwhile, offers a case study in effective financial management and strategic resource allocation within a large ‍multinational⁣ corporation.

for U.S. investors and⁤ media watchers, these developments offer valuable ⁢insights into the evolving global media landscape. The success ‌of DAZN and similar streaming services could influence the strategies of ‌American media‌ companies, while Telstra’s financial maneuver provides‌ a compelling exmaple of capital management in a competitive market.

HBO Max increases prices: does your lifetime discount remain valid? – Radar

HBO Max increases prices: does your lifetime discount remain valid? – Radar

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com May 9, 2024
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Why is HBO Max raising prices?

HBO Max is merging with Discovery and launching a new app on June 11. Due to the “significant improvements in the offering and functionalities”, the prices of subscriptions will be increased, the streaming service informs subscribers.

HBO Max is also introducing new subscription types. You can choose from:

  • A Basic subscription of 5.99 euros per month with advertising.
  • A Standard subscription of 9.99 euros per month without advertising.
  • A Premium subscription for 13.99 euros per month.
  • As an extra, you can add a ‘Sport add-on’ to one of these three subscriptions. For an extra 5 euros per month you can watch live sporting events.

Does your lifetime discount remain valid?

Are you a subscriber from the very beginning? Then your lifetime discount remains valid, but that does not mean that you will continue to pay 2.99 euros per month for your HBO Max subscription.

The lifetime discount is a 50 percent discount on your subscription price and not a fixed amount of 2.99 euros for the rest of your life. And because your subscription will be converted into the new standard subscription of 9.99 euros, you will soon pay 4.99 euros per month.

Not only will this cost you more than you might have expected when taking out the subscription, you will also lose the option to stream films and series in 4K.

Price increase does not take effect immediately

You will not pay this new price immediately: your subscription price will remain the same until 60 days after the introduction of the new app. Your subscription price will not change until your next renewal date on or after August 13, 2024.

Amazon Prime Subscription Price Increase 2023: What You Need to Know

From December 12, you will pay 4.99 euros per month for the Amazon Prime subscription. The service now costs 2.99 euros per month. Prime provides access to a streaming video service and free delivery of Amazon orders, among other things.

To alleviate the pain of the large price increase, Amazon is introducing an annual subscription for Prime. That subscription costs 49.99 euros. Compared to the monthly subscription, you get a discount of two months. But even with the annual subscription it is almost 40 percent more expensive than now.

The price increase takes effect on December 12. You will pay the new price as soon as your subscription is renewed after that date.

“We are raising the price so that we can continue to invest in making Amazon Prime even more valuable for our members,” the company said in a response to NU.nl.

Amazon isn’t the only streaming video service raising its prices. Netflix introduced a price increase last year, making subscriptions 1 to 2 euros more expensive. Disney+ has already increased its prices twice this year in increments of 1 euro.

Apple TV+ Price Increase Sparks Angry Customer Reactions and Threats to Cancel Subscriptions

Apple TV+ Price Increase Sparks Angry Customer Reactions and Threats to Cancel Subscriptions

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com October 28, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Amira Shehata Saturday, October 28, 2023 02:00 AM He threatened agents Apple TV Angry users have canceled their subscriptions, following news that the company is raising prices by up to 40%, and the change will raise the monthly cost from £6.99 to £8.99 in the UK, and from $6.99 to $9.99 in the US.

According to the British Daily Mail, some customers say they are willing to pay for the new higher price of Apple TV+ to continue watching popular shows like Ted Lasso and The Morning Show. However, many have criticized the changes, with some arguing that Apple does not have… Enough high-quality content to justify paying more.

“Apple TV+ is perfectly priced for a service that includes a good selection of worthwhile originals and zero library…it’s not worth $9.99,” one angry customer wrote to X (formerly Twitter).

Launched in 2019, Apple TV+ has produced a number of original shows but hasn’t had the decades to build out a catalog like Netflix or reach historic libraries like Disney+.

“I like some Apple TV shows, but they don’t have the content to justify it,” one user wrote. Another added: “I’ve used two free three-month promotions for Apple TV this year, and rarely found anything worth watching.”

“It will be cancelled,” one commenter said, adding: “The few shows out there that are worth watching are great, but once you finish them, why keep watching?” Frustration with the service’s high prices has led many commenters to threaten to cancel their subscriptions.

“It’s time to cancel,” one user tweeted, while another added that Apple TV was “on track to cancel,” and another simply wrote: “Goodbye @Apple.”

The price increases will begin affecting existing Apple TV customers within 30 days, starting with the following renewal dates.

Apple News+ is also increasing from $9.99 (£9.99) per month to $12.99 while the Apple One package, which includes access to Apple Music, TV and Arcade, will now cost $19.95 per month, up from $16.95.

By raising prices, Apple joins other big names in streaming in raising the costs of monthly subscriptions. Average monthly costs for streaming services have risen 25% year over year according to an analysis by The Wall Street Journal.

This month, Netflix increased the price of its most expensive subscription service by 10%, bringing the cost to $23. Meanwhile, the price of an ad-free Disney+ plan rose to $13.99, while Hulu’s ad-free subscription is now $17.99.
