Google has released Android 16 QPR2, a mid-cycle update focused on delivering โคnew platform APIs โคand bug fixes without requiring extensive app retesting. This marksโ a shift in Android growth, enabled by โa smaller SDK introduced with QPR2 last year, allowing for โคmore frequent innovation outside teh conventional annual release schedule.
Unlike the majorโค Android 16 update in June, QPR2 isโ designedโฃ to be largely additive, minimizing โฃdisruption for developers. The update is currently rolling out โtoโ a wide range of google Pixel devices, including theโฃ Pixel 6, 6โ Pro, โข6a, 7, 7 Pro, 7a, Fold, 8, 8 Pro, 8a, 9, 9โ Pro, 9 Pro XL, 9 Pro Fold, and 9a, as well as the Pixel Tablet. A โdetailed โlist ofโฃ bug fixes is available in a separate Google support overview.
