Students Surprise Principal with Secret Wedding Ceremony

by Emma Walker – News Editor October 25, 2025
written by Emma Walker – News Editor

Buffalo, New York – A Buffalo Academy of Science principal received a heartwarming surprise just days before her wedding: a⁢ mock ceremony orchestrated by her students and staff.

Brianna⁤ Lanoye, principal of the K-12 charter school, and her fiancé zach Klapp were honored with a student-led wedding party in the school courtyard earlier this month. The ‍gesture stemmed from Lanoye’s repeated‍ expression of wanting to invite her entire school community to her nuptials. This‍ act of affection highlights⁢ the strong bond between educators and students, and the lengths a school community will ⁢go to show gratitude for a beloved leader.

The staff secretly prepared for the event, even‍ crafting a⁢ makeshift wedding dress for Lanoye. ‍when she emerged from the‍ school building, she was⁤ greeted by over 400 students and staff. Klapp joined her, and the couple exchanged vows and candy ring ⁢pops, presided ‍over by a student officiant.

“When I exited the building and saw all ‍the students gathered there, I⁣ was blown away,” Lanoye said.

While no objections were‌ raised during the ceremony, some students playfully suggested to CBS News that Klapp might not be Lanoye’s only love. Student Sabahat Uddin quipped, “She ‍loves the kids more than her ⁣husband.”

Lanoye responded with laughter when⁣ asked about‌ the playful accusations, stating the ceremony was everything she could ⁢have hoped for. “I love my students more ‍than anything,” Lanoye said. “And I just hope that our students feel ⁢as loved as I felt in that moment.”

NYU ‌Student Group advocates for Marxist Change at ‘No Kings‘ Rally to Challenge Capitalism

NEW ⁤YORK ⁣CITY ⁢- A student-run group identifying as “NYU Communists,” a chapter of ‍the Revolutionary Communists of America, participated‍ in ⁤the nationwide “No Kings” rally Saturday, advocating for the dismantling of ⁤capitalism and highlighting⁣ anti-billionaire sentiment. The group, ‍while ‌active on⁢ campus, is not officially affiliated with New York University, according to a university spokesperson.

The “No Kings” demonstration,⁣ held in New York City ⁤and other locations across the country on October 18, 2025, drew⁤ thousands of⁤ largely peaceful protesters. ⁤”NYU Communists” members distributed ‍copies of “The Communist,” a publication ⁢of‌ the Revolutionary Communists ⁣of America, featuring the headline ⁢”The Billionaires are the⁢ Enemy.” The newspaper, ⁤printed ‌in multicolor and including a barcode for membership ⁣sign-ups, solicits a $5 “solidarity” donation.

Articles within⁣ the 15-page publication included ⁤pieces ‍titled “Reserve your Spot at a Marxist School Near You,” “Israel’s War on the Truth,”‍ and “Record 70% Now⁤ Believe⁤ the⁢ ‘American Dream’ was‌ a Lie.”

NYU spokesperson John ‍Beckman ⁤confirmed the university’s lack of affiliation with the student group. “There is no registered or university-recognized group called ‌’NYU Communists,’ and we’re unfamiliar with them,” Beckman told Fox News Digital.

The “No Kings” rally received funding ⁤from multiple sources, including Democratic donor george Soros⁢ and other nonprofits. Former President Donald Trump stated Sunday his⁣ management would investigate the funding sources behind the nationwide protests, commenting,”I guess [the No Kings protest] was⁢ paid for⁤ by Soros and other radical ⁢left lunatics… We’re checking it out.”

Queens home doubles as designer dog emporium, selling pups for $38k despite ban

NYC Pet Store Circumvents Puppy Sale Ban, Offering Imported Pups for Up to $38,000

MANHATTAN, NY - A ⁢Madison Avenue pet store, Tiny Cuties, is under scrutiny for allegedly ⁢circumventing New York’s ban on the sale of dogs, offering puppies bred in South Korea for‍ prices reaching as high as $38,000. The findings, reported by ‍ The New York⁤ Post, reveal a potential loophole in the Puppy Mill Pipeline Act, enacted to halt the influx of commercially bred dogs and ⁤promote adoption.

New⁣ York’s⁣ law, ‌which defines a ⁤retail pet shop as any for-profit business selling animals, prohibits‍ the‌ sale or offering for‌ sale of dogs. State Senator Michael Gianaris⁢ (D-Queens), a cosponsor ⁢of the bill, confirmed the law applies to both brick-and-mortar and online sales.

Tiny Cuties reportedly avoids physically holding puppies⁣ in the store, ‍informing potential customers-as a Post reporter posing as a buyer discovered-that the animals arrive from South Korea and can be picked up upon arrival. The store also specializes in “teacup-sized” puppies imported from Asia.

The Puppy Mill Pipeline Act ‌aimed to “cut off the pipeline” of dogs from abusive breeding operations, frequently enough located in the midwest, where dogs are frequently‍ kept in ‌cramped conditions and profit is prioritized over ‍animal welfare, according to the Humane World for Animals, which supported the legislation. As its enactment, over 60 pet shops across ‍New York State have closed.

“The amount of illegal puppy sales is down⁤ vrey dramatically, which means the law is working,” Gianaris ⁢stated. “There’s going to be ⁣always some bad actors trying to find ways around it.”

The inquiry comes after the state attorney general’s office in july shut‌ down Vanity‍ Pups‍ in Bayside, Queens, for attempting to sell ⁤a 10-week-old Cavapoo for $1,800 to⁤ an undercover investigator. A lawsuit filed‍ by‍ Attorney General Letitia James alleges Vanity Pups continued to advertise dogs for sale online despite the ⁤ban, and describes the store’s actions‌ as “repeatedly and persistently engaged in fraudulent, deceptive, and illegal ⁢business practices.” That case remains ‍ongoing.

“A sale is⁤ a sale,” said Shapiro, commenting on the ⁢financial incentives driving attempts to bypass the⁤ law. “As so much money is involved, you’re going to see ⁣people try to find ways to be ‘creative’ and push boundaries.”
