Ukrainian Children Reportedly Sentโ to Northโ Korea for Re-education
WASHINGTON D.C. – Ukrainian legal expert Kateryna rashevska testifiedโ before a US โขCongressional subcommittee Wednesday that atโฃ least two Ukrainian โคchildren abducted from occupied territories have beenโฃ forcibly taken to north Korea.โฃ Rashevska, of the Regional โฃCenter forโข Human Rights of Ukraine, identified the children as 12-year-old Misha from the Donetsk region โฃand 16-year-old Liza โขfrom simferopol.
The children where sent โtoโฃ the โSongdowon camp in North โKorea,โ approximatelyโ 9,000 km from their homes, where theyโ are reportedly being indoctrinatedโข to “destroy Japanese militarists” and were โคscheduled toโ meetโ Korean veterans involved inโ the 1968 attack on the US naval โฃship Pueblo, anโ incident that resulted in โฃthe deaths and injuries of nine American soldiers.
Rashevska stated that her organization โคhas documented โข165 re-educationโค camps where Ukrainian children are being “militarized and Russified,” located in occupied โterritories, Russia, Belarus, and now North Korea. โคshe emphasized that this processโข causes “severe trauma and violates the dignity of children,” with 17-year-old boys receiving draft notices forโฃ the Russian โคarmy, ultimately aiming “toโข get Ukrainians to kill each โฃother.”
The revelation comes amid reports from South Korean and Westernโ intelligence agencies indicating North Korea has sent overโข 10,000 soldiers to russia in 2024, primarily toโข the Kurskโค region, along with artillery shells, rockets, and long-range missileโฃ systems. โNorth Korea is considered a supporterโ of Russian President Vladimir โขPutin.
