Rhรดne Department Seesโ Sharp Decline in Breast โCancer Screening Rates
Lyon, France โค – Breast cancer screening participation in the Rhรดne department has fallen sharply, dropping 1.9โ percentageโ points toโฃ 48.5%,according to new data released during October’s Breast Cancer Awareness โMonth. This places the Rhรดne as the โsecond-lowest performingโ department in โthe Auvergne-Rhรดne-Alpes โคregion, considerably behind the regional goal โคof 70% participation.
While the โขoverallโฃ screeningโ rate for women aged 50-74 in Auvergne-Rhรดne-Alpes remains โstable, hovering between 51.6% (2022-2023) and 51.7% (2023-2024), the decline โin the Rhรดne is a concerning โขtrend. The department only recently surpassed a 50% participation rate last year, โคhighlighting the fragility of โprogress and the urgent need for renewed efforts to encourage screening. This decline puts more women at โคrisk of late-stage diagnoses,โ potentially impactingโ treatment outcomes and survival rates.
To address this, the ARA coordination centerโ has launched an โคinteractive mapโค to help residents locate the nearest radiology center for mammography appointments: www.depistagecanceraura.fr/rendez-vous-mammographie.
Throughout October, โคa series ofโ events are planned to โraise awareness and promote screening, including information stands โขhosted by France work and the CPAM in Part-Dieu (Octoberโ 2), a cancer forum in Dรฉcines (October 9), a walk in Rillieux-la-Pape (October 10),โ and events inโข Lyon’s 8thโฃ arrondissement and Mornant.
