Marissa Anita explains Symbolic Choice of Attire During Divorce Proceedings
Jakarta – Actress and presenter Marissa Anita appeared in all black clothing at her divorce trial with husband Andrew Trigg at the Central Jakarta District Court on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. Following the hearing, Anita explained the purposeful choice, revealing a deeply personal meaning connected to the emotional complexities of the process.
Anita stated the color black represents both mourning for the end of her marriage and the anticipation of a new beginning. “Black clothes usually mean mourning,” she explained at the court. “But in other understandings or other cultures, black is the color which means rebirth.” She described the divorce as a period of closing one chapter while simultaneously preparing to embrace the future.
the actress further elaborated that wearing black symbolized her readiness to move forward. “I deliberately used black, because in divorce there is a period of mourning. Because this is a period in life where I close a book in my life,but at the same time,there is an understanding that black means being reborn,” she said. “So I am ready to open a new book. I am reborn, welcoming Marissa at the age of 42 until death comes to me.”
The trial proceeded without the presence of Andrew Trigg. The next hearing is scheduled for November 26, 2025, at which time mediation will occur if Trigg attends, as per legal procedure.
