Apple will no longer include a power adapter with its MacBook Pro laptops sold in Europe, aligning with new EU regulations mandating a universal charging standard. Teh change, effective spring 2026 for laptops, follows Apple’s prior decision to discontinue power adapters with iPhone sales to comply with the directive. Consumers can still purchase a power supply separately if needed, and manufacturers offering bundled power supplies must also provide an option to buy the device without one.
The EU directive aims to reduce electronic waste and simplify charging for consumers. While Apple could have opted to include a power supply with all units and offer a discount for those choosing to forgo it, the company appears to have chosen to remove it entirely. The base price of the new MacBook Pro M3 has decreased by 100 euros compared to the previous model, though this is attributed to exchange rate fluctuations rather than the removal of the power adapter.
