Jeonbuk University of Science and Korea Software Engineers Association Partner to Advance AI Education and Research
Jeonbuk, South Korea – Jeonbuk University of Science and Technology (President Sang-hee Kim) and the Korea Software Engineers Association (chairman Gyu-seong Noh) formalized a collaborative agreement on the 24th, aiming to drive innovation in future industries through strengthened industry-academia ties and focused AI training initiatives.The signing ceremony took place in the education quality seminar room on the 3rd floor of Jeonbuk University of Science’s main building.
The partnership seeks to broaden the national foundation for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cultivate the next generation of skilled AI professionals. The agreement follows opening remarks, greetings, and a detailed discussion on implementation, attended by key officials from both organizations, including Kim Han-soo, head of the RISE business unit at Jeonbuk University of Science and Technology, and Noh Gyu-seong, president of the Korea Software Engineers Association.
Under the terms of the agreement, both entities will collaborate on AI convergence research and demonstration projects, jointly develop AI-integrated curricula, and provide specialized training for AI experts. Beyond these core areas, the organizations will explore joint research endeavors, share relevant data, and actively promote the practical application of research findings through presentations, workshops, and academic seminars. A key goal is to establish a long-term, sustainable model for industry-academia cooperation.
Kim Han-soo, head of the RISE Business division at Jeonbuk University of Science, emphasized the agreement’s importance, stating it represents a commitment to educational innovation driven by AI and collaborative partnerships. He anticipates that integrating the Korea Software Engineers Association’s AI-based education platform and solutions with jeonbuk University of Science’s AI convergence research will create a robust and enduring platform for industry-academia collaboration.
Chairman Noh Gyu-seong hailed the agreement as a pivotal moment in regional AI talent growth. He believes combining the Association’s practical AI research, educational content, and certification system with Jeonbuk University of Science and Technology’s field-based education will transform the university into a central hub for the local AI ecosystem.
Jeonbuk University of science and Technology is currently leveraging the RISE (Regional Innovation-oriented University Support System) project to support the development of digital healthcare professionals and facilitate AI integration across various departments. The university is also establishing itself as a regional AI hub through AI certification courses and the creation of maker spaces. This partnership is expected to further solidify its position as a leading AI educational institution in the region.
