The induction ceremony will ‌take place on Thursday, October 23 inside Williams-Brice Stadium, with honorees also recognized during the football game against Alabama on Saturday, October 25.

Hastings, a former ‌Gamecock who competed in the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games, initially struggled⁤ to fully appreciate her relay medals, feeling they didn’t receive the same recognition as individual achievements. “For a long time ‌in my career, I didn’t celebrate those (relay) medals,” Hastings said. “To this day, I couldn’t ⁣tell you ⁣how many medals I’ve won in my career because of all the relays and ⁣because there was always another race, ⁣and I was thinking about the individual medals.” ⁤She‌ later came⁢ to value the meaning of ⁤those team championships, sharing her experiences with her son⁣ while⁣ watching ‌the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

A key member of the U.S. Olympic team, Hastings secured ⁣a gold medal in the 4x400m relay at the 2016 Rio Olympics after placing fourth in the open 400m competition. She competed for the Gamecocks from 2007-2011.

Federal Agents Deploy Tear Gas In Albany Park as Neighbors Block Immigration Arrest

by Priya Shah – Business Editor October 13, 2025
written by Priya Shah – Business Editor

Chicago, IL – ⁤Federal agents deployed tear ⁣gas and smoke in Chicago’s Albany Park neighborhood Monday afternoon while attempting⁢ an ‍immigration arrest, sparking a confrontation with residents who attempted to block‌ the operation. The incident occurred despite a⁢ recent⁣ court order restricting the use of crowd control tactics by federal law enforcement.

Neighbors mobilized to impede the agents’ progress, ‌forming a human barrier and voicing opposition to the ‍arrest. The deployment of tear gas raises concerns about compliance with a ⁢temporary restraining order issued last week, which mandates ‌verbal warnings before using such devices and prohibits targeting demonstrators, journalists, ⁤or clergy. The situation underscores escalating tensions surrounding federal immigration ⁤enforcement and ‌the limits of‌ their authority within city limits.

According to Maris Rodriguez-Sanchez, a‍ local advocate, the agents’‍ actions demonstrate “open defiance of judicial limits.” The court order, secured after a lawsuit ⁣filed by Block club Chicago and others, requires two‍ verbal warnings‌ before deploying‌ tear gas, pepper spray, rubber bullets, or flash-bang devices. ⁢It ‌also restricts the use of physical force to situations where an individual poses an “immediate danger.”

The Department of Homeland Security has not yet responded to requests for comment. Rodriguez-Sanchez stated the event “shows both the⁤ risks our neighbors face and the strength they’ve‌ built to face them together.”

Title: Rodgers’ Mastery Fuels Steelers’ AFC North Lead

by Alex Carter - Sports Editor October 13, 2025
written by Alex Carter - Sports Editor

Steelers Defeat Browns, rodgers’ ⁤Speedy⁤ Processing Key to ⁢Victory

Pittsburgh – The Steelers defeated the Browns on October 12th, a win heavily influenced by quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ ability to⁢ quickly process defenses and ‍deliver the ball, according to Steelers head coach⁣ Mike Tomlin. ⁢The steelers’ typically aggressive defense, known for generating pressure and turnovers, faced a ⁤challenge ⁤against Rodgers, ‌who was not sacked and completed 70 percent ⁣of his⁤ passes for touchdowns‍ of 12 and ⁤25 yards.

Rodgers’ “time to throw” was described by Tomlin as “elite,” stemming from his ability⁢ to “decipher components⁢ of the progression prior to the snap”⁣ and “eliminate potential throws or options‌ prior to even the ball being snapped.”⁣ This‌ resulted in the Browns recording zero sacks, three hits on the quarterback, three ⁢pass breakups, and ⁢zero takeaways.

The Steelers defense, entering the ⁢game ⁢ranked second in the NFL in sacks ‍per pass play with 14 sacks and 10 takeaways in four games, did manage 6 sacks and 16 hits ‍against Browns rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel, but failed to force a turnover.‌ Despite this, seven of the Browns’ eight non-take-a-knee possessions⁢ began inside their own 30-yard⁣ line.

Rodgers led two late-game‌ touchdown drives,completing ⁣4-of-6 passes for 43 yards ⁤and a 12-yard touchdown⁤ to Connor Heyward,and then 3-of-3 for 51 yards and a 25-yard touchdown to DK ⁤Metcalf,securing a two-score lead for the Steelers.
