Bob Dylan Takes Action Against Fan โAccount Sharing Concert Footage
Glasgow, Scotland – Bob Dylan hasโ reportedly taken steps to preventโ a popular fan account, Daily Dylan, from sharing recordings of his โconcerts. Daniel Hildebrand, whoโ operates the Daily Dylan social-media accounts, stated he was “declared an ‘unwanted person'” at Dylan’s November 17th concert in Glasgow.
Theโ move comes as โคDylan increasingly attempts to limit theโ circulation ofโ footage fromโข hisโค live performances, despite recentlyโค releasing a new โคbox set of bootleg recordings in September titledโ The โBootleg Series โVol. 18: Bob Dylan’sโค Bootleg Series Volume 18 Through the Open window 1956-1963. While โHildebrand’s Dailyโ Dylan account-which boasts over 100,000 followers-does not record โfootage โคitself, itโฃ aggregatesโ recordingsโ made by concertgoers and shares them โwith fans.
According to โฃHildebrand, staff โcited โขthe sharing ofโ others’ recordings asโฃ theโ reason for the ban, despite Daily Dylan not โoriginating the footage. “It’s safe to assume this was as of the Daily Dylan account,” heโ explained. As a result, Hildebrand announced he will no โคlonger post “any material” from Dylan’s shows.
Dylan hasโฃ recently implemented otherโข measures to avoid being filmed at concerts, including wearingโข oversized hoodies pulled โฃover hisโข head andโข positioning โคhimself behind โขluminous lights at the โback of the stage, sometimes rendering him โunseen by audience members.
The situationโ has deeply affected โฃHildebrand, who is now considering shutting down Daily Dylan. “we’re incredibly proudโฆof howโค we’ve come โtogether to celebrate Bob Dylan’s artโค withโ kindness, passion, and friendship,” he wrote.”We’ve poured our hearts into daily Dylan, which โmakes it painful to take this step and reduce our activityโ – but it’s necessary.” Dylan’s team has not โresponded to requests for comment.
