Maruyama Claims Victory at Summer Grand Prix Competition, Secures Overall Series Title
Zakopane, Poland – Nozomi Maruyama of Japan triumphed at the Ladies’ Summer Grand Prix competition in Zakopane, Poland, adding to her lead in the overall Summer Grand Prix classification. Maruyama’s consistent performance throughout both rounds secured her the win, finishing 17.4 points ahead of Nika Prevc in the final round.
This victory not only marks a triumphant competition for Maruyama but also confirms her as the overall champion of the 2025 Ladies Summer Grand Prix series. The Summer Grand Prix serves as a crucial early-season indicator for ski jumping athletes, providing valuable competition experience and setting the stage for the upcoming winter season. the event also contributes to the ladies’ summer Nations Cup standings, showcasing national team strength in the sport.
Maruyama led after the first series with a jump of 141 meters, holding a 5.1-point advantage over Nika Prevc (136.5 m) and a 9.5-point lead over Kurumi Ichinohe (133 m). Yuki Ito (131 m), Abigail Strate (128.5 m), and Lisa Eder (128.5 m) also placed highly in the initial round. Anna Odine Stroem finished seventh (123 m), followed by Selina Freitag (123 m) in eighth, Sara Takanashi (126.5 m) in ninth, and Jenny Rautionaho (123 m) in tenth.
In the final round, Maruyama extended her lead with a jump of 140 meters. Prevc secured second place with 137 meters. Yuki Ito moved into third place (128 m) after abigail Strate (126 m) was disqualified. Selina Freitag (126.5 m) and Sara Takanashi (130.5 m) rounded out the top five.
Representing Poland, anna Twardosz achieved 22nd place in the first series (116 m) and improved to 19th overall with a final jump of 106 meters.Nicole Konderla-Juroszek advanced to the final round, finishing 26th in the first series (106 m) and 30th overall with a final jump of 90 meters.
Annika Sieff and Gyda Westvold Hansen were disqualified during the first series. Competition commenced from the 20th and 22nd starting beams, and the final round utilized the 20th platform.
