NBC News Appoints Noreen Gillespie as SVP, Head of News Standards
NEW YORK – September 4, 2025 - NBC News today announced the appointment of Noreen Gillespie as Senior Vice President and Head of News Standards, a newly created role emphasizing journalistic integrity across all platforms. Gillespie’s appointment comes at a critical juncture for news organizations navigating evolving media landscapes and heightened scrutiny of reporting practices.
Gillespie will be responsible for overseeing editorial guidelines, fact-checking protocols, and training initiatives designed to uphold NBC News’ commitment to accuracy and fairness. The creation of this position and Gillespie’s selection reflect NBC News’ proactive approach to maintaining public trust in an era of misinformation and increasing demands for transparent journalism. She will report to NBC News President, Janelle Rodriguez.
Prior to joining NBC News, Gillespie served as Deputy Managing Editor at the Associated Press, where she led standards and ethics training for journalists worldwide. She has also held editorial leadership positions at The New York Times and NPR. Gillespie’s extensive experience in establishing and enforcing rigorous journalistic standards makes her uniquely qualified to lead this effort at NBC News.
