BMW Revives 2002 Turbo Spirit with New M2 Turbo Edition
MUNICH, Germany – BMW has unveiled a limited-edition M2 Turbo, a striking homage to the iconic 2002 Turbo that captivated enthusiasts in 1973. The new model blends classic design cues with modern performance, offering a purist driving experience for a new generation.
The M2 Turbo Edition promptly recalls its predecessor with Alpine White bodywork and meticulously hand-painted tricolor stripes. A signature detail – the reversed “turbo” lettering on the hood - is designed to be correctly read in the rearview mirror of the car ahead, mirroring the original 2002’s distinctive feature.
At the rear, a carbon spoiler and prominent “turbo” script further emphasize the car’s lineage, while the interior receives tricolor accents and exclusive “M2 Turbo” plates, echoing the handcrafted touches of the original era.
Staying true to the 2002 Turbo’s spirit, BMW will offer the M2 Turbo Edition exclusively with a 6-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive. This isn’t simply a retro exercise, however; BMW states the limited edition ”reinterprets with style and subtlety the language of the 2002 Turbo.”
The new M2 Turbo Edition aims to deliver the purest possible driving sensations, potentially evoking nostalgic memories for those who once dreamed of owning the original 2002 Ti.
