Boulemane Province boosts Rural Economy with Over MAD 5.8 Million Investment
Boulemane, Morocco - october 20, 2024 – A meaningful investment of MAD 5.82 million has fueled the development of 32 income-generating projects in the province of Boulemane between 2020 and 2024, according to data released by the province’s rural affairs division during the recent Boulemane festival of saffron and medical and aromatic plants (October 16-19).
The projects, spanning sectors like sheep farming, poultry, beekeeping, agriculture, medicinal plants, sewing, tourism, and construction, have benefitted 109 individuals. The rural affairs division contributed MAD 2.549 million to these initiatives.
Beyond direct project funding, the division also invested MAD 500,000 in a cleaning machine for the Soulaliyate communities in the Tissaf commune. Furthermore, land has been allocated to agricultural cooperatives and other organizations for accommodation, in collaboration with Al Omrane.
The province is also actively mobilizing land for agricultural development through rental agreements. Between 2020 and 2024, approximately 6,181 hectares were proposed for such arrangements, with 8,904 hectares subject to rental via calls for tenders between 2021 and 2024. Rental prices begin at MAD 500 per hectare, requiring a provisional bank guarantee of MAD 10,000.
Currently, 109 agricultural rental contracts, covering 3,466 hectares, are in place. These are distributed across four communes: Missour (64 ha,3 contracts),Outat Lhaj (2,312 ha,55 contracts),Boulemane (701 ha,36 contracts),and Marmoucha (389 ha,15 contracts).
Investment projects linked to these rental contracts average MAD 1.5 million, and are projected to create 360 direct jobs and 2,600 temporary employment opportunities. Additionally, 20 amicable agricultural rental contracts cover a total area of 2,112 hectares.
