Tadeáš Růžička, a Czech mixed martial artist, has been released from prison after serving 17 months for a series of violent incidents, according to reports from Czech news outlets. The release, confirmed by Super.cz and Extra.cz on March 1, 2026, comes earlier than initially expected, as Růžička was originally sentenced to a longer period of incarceration.

Růžička’s imprisonment stemmed from multiple assaults, including a widely publicized incident at the Petynka swimming pool in Prague during the summer of 2024. He was convicted for attacking a man who intervened on behalf of a woman being harassed. The court initially sentenced him to six months in prison for this offense, adding another eleven months for a prior assault on Strossmayer Square, resulting in a total sentence of 17 months, served in a high-security prison.

Following his release, Růžička posted a video on social media, stating he had a “clear head” and signaling his intention to return to public life. mmamag.cz reported that he appeared in the video alongside rapper 13Many, and the pair were promoting an upcoming musical project. The post has garnered both supportive and critical reactions, with some commenters referencing his past violent behavior.

Although Růžička has not yet announced specific plans for his return to combat sports, speculation is mounting about potential offers from various organizations. Sport.cz noted that domestic organizations are approaching the situation cautiously, considering his controversial past. The Clash promotion, known for its unconventional events, is expected to be among the first to offer him a fight, with RFA and other organizations also potentially interested. Pavel Novotný, who reportedly spent time with Růžička in prison, indicated that the fighter maintained his training regimen during his incarceration and has visibly gained weight.

The circumstances surrounding Růžička’s early release remain unclear, though reports suggest good behavior may have been a contributing factor. He had also faced additional legal proceedings related to allegations of robbery and threats against women in Prague 6, but the outcome of those cases was not detailed in available reports. As of March 3, 2026, no official statements have been released by the Czech prison system regarding the reasons for his early departure.
