Piešťany is the center of attention as the Slovak hockey team intensifies its preparations for the upcoming World Championship in Stockholm and Herning in 2025. the team has convened at the Piešťany ice rink for a crucial preparatory camp.

Two pivotal preparatory matches against Germany are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, offering a prime possibility to fine-tune strategies and assess player performance.

Coaching Change and Team Leadership

The team is currently navigating its formation without head coach Craig Ramsay,who is recovering from pneumonia. His participation in the tournament remains uncertain. Vladimír Országh has stepped in as his replacement, ensuring continuity in the team’s readiness.

Ramsay’s assistants from previous championships, Petr Frühauf and Ján Pardavý, have joined the team. Frühauf’s club season in the Czech Republic concluded after Hradec Králové’s semifinal playoff loss to Pardubice. Pardavý’s team,Zlín,competed in the final of the second-highest league,and he is expected to join the team on Wednesday.

Adam Sýkora, who played for the New York Rangers’ affiliate in Hartford, is the first confirmed player from overseas.He tallied 9 goals and 19 assists during the season and previously debuted at the World championship in 2022 at the age of seventeen.

Assistant Coach Peter Frühauf emphasized the ongoing evaluation of potential players, stating, We are discussing potential players every day. Peter Frühauf is in contact with them.
