top Diplomats Demand Sudan Ceasefire as Atrocities Mount

Manama, Bahrain – November 1, 2025 – Leading⁢ diplomats from Germany, Jordan, and the⁢ United Kingdom have urgently called for an immediate ceasefire in Sudan, citing reports of escalating atrocities and a⁤ rapidly deteriorating humanitarian crisis. ⁣The calls for action ‍came during a‍ summit in Manama, Bahrain, where officials expressed deep concern over the ongoing‌ conflict between the Sudanese army and the ⁤paramilitary Rapid support forces (RSF).

The situation ‍in‍ Darfur is especially dire, with reports detailing mass executions, starvation, and widespread ⁤sexual violence. “Reports from Darfur in recent days have truly horrifying atrocities,” said UK Foreign Secretary Ms. Cooper. “Mass executions, starvation and the devastating use of rape as a weapon⁤ of war, with women and children bearing the brunt‍ of the largest humanitarian ⁤crisis in the 21st century. For too long, this terrible ⁤conflict has been neglected, while suffering‍ has simply increased.” Ms. Cooper emphasized that aid alone cannot resolve the⁤ crisis, stating, “no amount of aid can resolve a crisis of this magnitude until the guns fall silent.”

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul directly accused the RSF of violence in el-Fasher, describing Sudan as ⁢”absolutely an apocalyptic situation.” ⁢Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman⁤ Safadi echoed these concerns, stating that Sudan has not received “the attention it deserves,” and that ⁣a “humanitarian crisis⁤ of inhumane proportions” is unfolding. “We’ve ⁣got to stop that,” he said.

The ⁢conflict ‍in Sudan erupted ‍in April 2023, stemming ⁢from a power ‍struggle between the Sudanese⁣ army,‍ led by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and the RSF, commanded by General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo. The fighting has plunged the country into chaos, displacing millions ⁤and pushing Sudan to the brink⁣ of collapse.
