‘strange New Worlds’ Final Seasons to Prioritize Core Storytelling, Reduce ”Outlier” Episodes
New York, NY – As Star trek: Strange New Worlds approaches its conclusion, the series will shift its focus away from standalone, zany episodes and towards a more concentrated narrative, according to showrunner Akiva Goldsman. The change comes after fan feedback regarding the unevenness of season three and as the show prepares for a shortened final run.
While episodes featuring unconventional premises - such as an upcoming installment where the crew is depicted as puppets – have been a hallmark of Strange New Worlds, Goldsman indicated these will become less frequent. “We’re trending now, and beginning with season four and through season five, to a much more singular sci-fi, action-adventure, emotional storytelling,” he told Screenrant.”And you know, the outliers are getting less and less as we kind of focus on saying goodbye to each other and the fans.”
The decision reflects a broader effort to deliver a stronger final arc, especially with season five limited to just six episodes. The series faces the challenge of both positioning its characters for their roles in The Original Series and resolving the storylines of its original characters as their time on the Enterprise draws to a close. This shift follows what has been described as a “promotional apology tour” for season three’s inconsistencies.
Season four is set to be the last full installment of the series, with anticipation building as fans await its release and subsequent footage revealed at events like New York Comic Con.
