Stefano Magnanensi leaves Domenica In after eight years
After eight years on the air alongside host Mara Venier, maestro Stefano Magnanensi has officially left the Italian television program Domenica In. The departure coincides with the launch of the show’s new season on Rai1, driven by Magnanensi’s need to prioritize his family and personal well-being following a complicated year.
A Sincere Farewell After Ten Editions
Stefano Magnanensi shared his decision to exit the production through a heartfelt statement published on Instagram, accompanied by photographs capturing his years in the television studio and beyond. Having contributed to a total of 10 editions of the Sunday afternoon program across his tenure, the maestro admitted that informing the host this past summer was a difficult choice. According to his public letter, the primary motivation for stepping away involves dedicating more attention to himself and his children after a personally challenging twelve months. Mara Venier accepted the choice, placing her longtime friend’s personal well-being above the production’s immediate staffing needs.
Reflecting on the mutual respect built over more than twenty years of professional association, Magnanensi expressed deep gratitude for the host’s unwavering support. In typical lighthearted fashion, his farewell message included a playful nod to his successor in the studio band. “And then oh, you gained… This Timothy is really cool!” he wrote, welcoming the incoming talent to the show.
New Musical Leadership and Format Updates on Rai1
Taking over the musical duties for the newly debuted season is singer-songwriter Timothy Cavicchini. Audiences previously recognized Cavicchini from his 2013 run on The Voice of Italy, where coach Piero Pelù selected him for his team. Following that televised exposure, Cavicchini secured a contract with Universal Music to produce his debut EP, A fuoco, followed by the single Altrove in 2013 and a subsequent bid at Sanremo Giovani in 2014.
Additional musical changes mark the current season of the program. Singer-songwriters Andrea Sannino and Franco Ricciardi have composed the official theme song. Titled after the broadcast itself, the new track serves as the audio backdrop for the refreshed Sunday afternoon lineup on Rai1.
